Relationship between Relative Grip Strength and Geriatric Oral Health Assessment Index (GOHAI) in Korean Elderly
Kim Sun-Mi
Abstract
Objectives: This study was conducted to examine the relationship between the elderly's relative grip strength and the elderly Geriatric Oral Health Assessment Index (GOHAI).

Methods: The study subjects were 3,410 elderly people aged 65 years or older from the Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging (KLoSA).

Results: It was found that the higher the relative grip strength, the higher the GOHAI scores. In the male elderly, there was a significant effect in the 2nd quartile group and 3rd quartile group than in the group with the lowest grip strength. The elderly female was significantly present in the middle group and the high group.

Conclusions: As a result, it was confirmed that relative grip strength could affect GOHAI scores. It is considered that in-depth follow-up research is needed to support multifaceted policies and institutional improvement for the health of the elderly.
